Storybook
Christmas
shows
set
It's beginning to look a lot
like Christmas, at least
at
the
Port
Austin Community
The-
atre.
Under
the
direction of
Penny Pearson, their holiday
show is taking shape.
A
Storybook Christmas
is
ev-
erything
a
holiday musical
should be, festive, fun, and
filled with children, not to
mention elves, Santa and
Little Red Riding Hood?
Well, that's actually what
happens when Santa's work-
shop is visited by
your
favor-
ite storybook characters, in-
cluding thewolf,
Red
Riding
Hood
and
The
Three Little
Pigs.
Show dates
are
Dec.
9,
10,
11,
16,
17
and
18.
All
seats
are
$4.00.
Call the theatre at
517-738-5217
for more
in-
formation.
Promote
food
safety
For
the person who has ev-
erything, why
not
give a
Christmas present that pro-
motes
food safety? Here
are
some suggestions
from
the
U.S.
Department ofAgricul-
ture: a meat thermometer,
a
food timer, cutting boards,
slow
cooker or insulated
lunch
box.

improve its
video camera equipment.
The new video camera is
considered
a
modular unit. It
will start
as
a studio camera
at
TATV
but could function
as
a
field camera
in
the fu-
ture when even more sophis-
ticated studio cameras are
available. The camera fea-
tures a remote control unit
which will allow the direc-
tor, in the control room, to
control the camera'span, tilt,
zoom
and focus.This feature
will eliminate the need for
a
camera operator in
the
stu-
dio.
REMC
#10
is located in a
former hospital building in
Cass
City. ThumbAreaTele-
vision
is
being developed
with a touch
of
irony. The
studio, from which programs
will originate, is the former
hospital delivery room. The
director's control console
and
editing equipment are
located
in
thc former labor
room
next
door.
The
NutraSweet Company
assisted
TATV
in December
1993 with a
$3,000
grant ihai
pushed
TATV
"over the top"
in
matching t'unds necessary
for a federal grant applica-
tion. The federal grant was
suhsequently awarded
to
REMC

for its Thumb
Area Television project.
